A two person show at the Providence Art Club

Dodge House Gallery features my "Pilgrim Steps" series -

opening February 18 2-4. Show runs to March 7.

Please come see "New Work", a two person show featuring Mary Dorsey Brewster's "Pilgrim Steps" series and photography by Barbara Crane.

My paintings from the Spanish Camino Pilgrimage route will be in the Providence Art Club's Dodge House Gallery, and ones from a St Cuthbert's Way walk will be in my upper level studio in the Fleur de Lys Building 2 doors down the street. They explore the visual experience of moving purposely across landscapes on foot.

The opening of the exhibit will be on February 18th from 2-4, and the Fleur de Lys will be open at the same time. If you cannot make these times, please contact me by email to make an appointment to see the studio. (marybrewsterart@gmail.com) I am excited to share this work!

Also, I am giving a talk and open discussion on the Camino experience on Wednesday March 3rd at 1:30pm. (This will let you come and go from Providence before the traffic worsens at the end of the day.) Please bring your questions and your own experiences to share about this rewarding and challenging experience.

The St Cuthbert's Way paintings will be in my studio on the 3rd floor of the wonderful Fleur de Lys building that many of you have visited. There were more paintings than would fit in my half of the Dodge House. In the remaining space, there are more paintings from the Scottish Highlands and some from my Azores exhibit.

This painting shows a ruined abbey built by St Cuthbert on the holy island of Lindisfarne. St Cuthbert, who pursued solitude to nurture his spiritual life, moved to an uninhabited island nearby when the community got too successful.

But mostly I have been in the studio hard at work this fall and winter to try and convey my own pilgrim experience. I hope I will see you at the show!
