June 3rd Studio Open House - Spring Newsletter

Updated: May 31, 2023

I have new work framed and hung, the dusters and vacuums out, and am working to get the studio ready for an Open House this Saturday from 11-3. You can't see the dust flying in this picture, but the room is filled with spring light and new work. Anthony Tomaselli's studio downstairs will be open with a big celebration too, so there is a lot to see at 7 Thomas Street in Providence.

INTERIOR STILL LIFE PAINTINGS

This winter, I have been doing some still lives with flowers and interiors, studying how the light transforms the subjects. Paintings are found with a glance and an inspiration, and then created with intention to catch that swing of sun and shadow. Even in stillness the light is moving, so the challenge is on! I love working from life.

LANDSCAPES

I have also been working on some landscapes from near and far. Attention to the light transforms these scenes.

NEXT

Rob and I have just gotten back from a trip to Spain, visiting Madrid, Segovia, and Barcelona. But the highlight was walking the Camino de Santiago for the last 120 kilometers and arriving in Santiago. The walking was wonderful and the countryside an inspiring mix of woods, fields, and villages. I felt connected and refreshed. May is a great time for the walk!

Hope to see a lot of you in my studio this Saturday 11-3!
