Holiday 2022 Newsletter

Happy Thanksgiving! I am truly grateful for your support through the year, as it is one of the things that makes the work I do so rewarding.

On Saturday December 3rd from 12-4, I will be in my studio as part of the Providence Art Club Open House . This event is open to the public, and there is a really fun atmosphere in the buildings and courtyard. There will be live music and the whole club will be open to explore. Please make the trip up the stairs to say hello. And if you can only come on another date, please contact me. and we will set something up.

This year, I have really been enjoying travelling further afield after the restrictions of Covid, and my studio shows the results. There will be landscapes from near and far, and still lives as well.

Spain

A trip to Madrid and the Asturias region of Spain was a real treat this fall, and I fell in love with the jagged limestone shapes of the Pico de Europa range of mountains. The low light of fall brought out the best colors and shadow shapes. And the traditional villages rooted in this landscape were really inspiring. I have a group of plein air sketches from the trip and am starting to work up some larger pieces.

Azores: Volcanos and villages

I made my first trip to the Azores a year ago, and visited four different islands. We had a great time exploring! A second trip in May concentrated on the island of San Miguel. The landscape was fabulous and constantly varied , with lovely vistas around every corner. I sketched and photo'd on site, and now I have done paintings of townscapes and seascapes of all sizes. One studio wall has a group of 23 paintings done from sketches the Azores.

I am hoping to find a place to display these paintings publicly next year.

Wait, there's more in the Studio

There are plenty of local landscapes from RI, Maine, and Vermont hung in the studio too. You can have a reminder of your favorite season in any room of your home. There are also some still lives and floral studies. Come and see what speaks to you!

Little Pictures

In the Little Pictures show in the Dodge House Gallery of the Providence Art Club, I have a series of lively sunflower paintings.

And a group of small garden related paintings will be shown at Central Congregational Church in Providence.
